Hi.

Firstly, sorry for my english, I usually don't speak it, and I don't manage it correctly.

I think I am alcoholic, I only drink on weekends, but lately is almost the only thing I

want to do. I don't feel really depressed, but I want to feel drunk, I want that

euphoria, that desinhibition, that happiness that alcohol produces in me... but I don't

want the hungover, I don't want the hepatic problems and I don't want to reduce my lean

body mass. Would it be anything that could give me the good things of alcohol without the

bad ones? I'm not talking about recreative drugs because they have many other problems,

besides the difficult to obtain them and the possibility of adulterations. Perhaps GHB,

but I want more opinions. What would you do? Which neurotransmitters would you manipulate

for that? Increase GABA? Increase dopamine? serotonine?....

I have read several things, but it is difficult for me... but I think the following

things could help me.. what do you thing?

Carnosine + inositol ip6
Oxytocin
Modafinil
Selegiline AND/OR dopamine agonist like bromocriptine or cabergoline ¿???
Rubifen=Ritalin
Any SSRI ¿???
Topiramate with something else ¿???

More ideas? I would thank any help.

Thanks

Bye

I would suggest that you explore the reason as to why you are depressed unless drunk. I would also try positive lifestyle changes as opposed to drugs as resolution i.e. good nutrition and a rugular exercise routine. OTC St. John's wort seems to help many with deprssion. It's avaiable at walmart.

Hi.

I'm not really depressend unless drunk, I simply prefer being drunk, it's not my intention being every day and whole day like I was drunk, but sometimes and specially on weekends, I would like to be like that without "the bad things" of alcohol. I usually go to gym and I eat properly, but lately I have suffered some lesions/injuries(¿??) and I must rest, besides alcohol reduces testo and reduces much lean body mass.

I LOVE being drunk, not really drunk drunk, "happy" (having drinked 4 or 5 cocktails(¿??)), I suppose it is very difficult you to understand how I feel when I drink; but if alcohol wasn't too bad for health it would be perfect.

Thank you liftsiron, I don't think I could read that book, english is difficult for me, and a big book, ufff. Nevertheless, I don't think I am too bad.

I would thank more opinions, specially "chemical" ones.

Bye

It sounds to me as if you are simply like you said "an alcoholic". What you are describing is no different then a drug addict searching for a high. Alcohol is actually a depressant so the fact that you feel better when your drunk is a good sign of addiction. Also you say you are not really depressed but you want that happy feeling you get with alcohol. That is an artificial high. No medication is going to give you that same feeling without also being harmful and addicting. Until you are willing to accept help and get it I don't think there is much to offer. I also don't think that most of don't know how you feel when you are drunk. It is a common feeling and that is why many people become addicted. I myself do not drink as I am a former addict.

I agree. Rugular exercise is much better than getting high.

Hi.

I agree with you, I have a problem, but "I don't want" to solve it, I want to "feel me high". I have seen several people that have desintoxicated (alcohol, ecstasy, heroine, cocaine...) and none of them seems happy, I watch them like if they were jungle beasts in a jail at a zoo or something like that. I can controle my drunk status, the only problem is that it is so bad for health.

Regular exercise is great, I've never said another thing, but it isn't enough for me for feeling happy with myself.

Sorry again for my poor english, each time I write a post I think I do it worst.

Regards

No need to apologize for poor English. It is not bad, and at least you are attempting. However I am not sure what your question is if you don't wish to solve your problem. You may feel "happy" while drinking now but eventually that will wear off.

Hi.

My question is about feeling like with alcohol but without it. A "pharmaceutical drunkenness" or something like that, that's why I have mentioned theese chemicals at my first post.

Thanks.

Perhaps you should seek advice at a board other than one dedicated to health. Perhaps "High Times" would better suit your desires.

Hi.

Sorry if I've used an incorrent forum, I thought it could be a health subject because I'm looking for taking away the bad sides of alcohol, like turning it -or it's effects- into something "healthful".

Which forum is that of "High Times"? I can't find it.

Thanks again.

Your english is actually pretty good!

Anywho - point everyone is making is this is a bodybuilding board, very very few people here use recreational drugs so this isn't the best place to come for this type of question.

You are looking to replace alcohol with rec drugs, you're not looking for help to acheive a healiter way of life.

Hi.

I've never said anything about rec drugs -cocaine, heroine, lsd, ecstasy...-, only GHB, and GHB -Xyrem- is healthy, isn't it? it helps releasing GH, maybe the most healthful hormone. Nevertheless I was looking for "healthful pharmaceuticals".

Carnosine - dipeptide
Inositol - vitamin
oxytocin - hormone
selegiline - imao
bromocriptine cabergoline - dopamine agonists
......

Thank you everybody, I will look for more info, I didn´t want to annoy anybody.

Bye

You might want to consider a drug like librium.(chlordiazepoxide) It doesn't make you high but it does help with anxiety and tension. A dr would probably prescribe it to help with alcohol withdrawal. This is an old school benzo, very safe and effective.
