For the past 3 years, after my workouts I drink freshly made carrot juice, followed by 75grams whey protien. I make 5 pounds of organic carrots which makes about 4 cups of juice containing 80 grams of sugar. I'm a big fan of the health beniefits of juicing which i won't get into. I just read that fruit is not good post wokout because it doesn't replace muscle glycogen, just liver glycogen. Does anyone know if the same is true with veggies? Also I couldn't find the GI of carrot juice, does any one know?

Carrot juice has a GI value of 97 as it contains mainly glucose. I also think it makes a great post workout drink, with creatine too.

Thanks bro, but I just looked on glycemicindex.com and it said a GI in 40's. Where did you get your GI info?

Y'know I cant remember but it was just one of those outstanding bits of information that I remembered. I was fruitarian/raw foodist for 5 years, yoga, Qi Gung, meditation, Shaolin stuff, too many esoteric books etc, so I was really into juices. I'l see if I can find it in my files somewhere.

There are two "versions" of the GI, one based on dextrose and one based on white bread.

Carrots have a significantly different GI when raw (GI 30) and cooked (GI 85)

Cheers
