I ended up calling the domestic abuse hotline last night. I gave them all the info I knew of. I am trying to get ahold of an old pal on the local force who may now some details or whats going on with the follow up. Monday morning I am going to see the dean and counselors. The shitty part is this turd and the kids mom havent been together long at all...couple weeks maybe. I have a soft spot for kids and most especially kids who are physically unable to defend themselves from punk ass adults who want to beat them. The mother is a fucking cowardess in my eyes...not doing a goddamn thing to protect her child in the moment of truth. In fact...I hope the guy chokeslams her for being a worthless deadbeat bar-fly cunt who shacks up with with club trash. She is NOT worthy of motherhood. FOX

His mother is just as guilty for letting it happen as her boyfriend is for doing it. Sounds like the kid would be better off out of her house altogether if she is going to choose some barfly over her own offspring. Good job FOX on getting child protective services involved. Doc

You've got a professional obligation to contact the authorities yet you come to an internet forum for advice? I guess I can appreciate some degree of ambivalance on your part, given that governmental intervention often makes situations like the one you reference worse, but damn... Don't you have any friends (in real life) or colleagues that you might consult in such a serious situation? I mean come on bro, most people on this board are cool and all, but I would think that you might do better than consult a bunch of strangers about a life or death situation like this. Well, I certainly hope for the best for your young friend. I just hope my doctor doesn't chat up strangers on Instant Messaging when he's got professional considerations about my health! :p Furious1

furious, you might have a valid point however the majority of the responses were the correct ones.... does it really matter where you go for info as long as the info is correct?

I was taken aback by the situation. It was Friday after hours and the idea of either waiting for Monday or acting immediately was on my mind. Not necessarily whether I reported it at all. I have never dealt with a similar situation. Plus it could make a decent off-topic discussion. FOX
