A lot of you probably won't acknowledge him for gaining this much size, but throughout his boxing career, Roy Jones JR has gained 50 some pounds. I'm always hearing and seeing people posting about gaining 30-50, but what do they look like afterwards? Roy Jones has gained that much, and has kept the same figure. Not that many people can do that, let alone boxers, and still compete.

too many roy haters on this board. best in the sport right now and definitely top 3 of all time IMO. when he made ruiz look like a bitch i couldn't believe the dude comes in at 199 with the same bf he had at 150. not bad indeed.

pound for pound, he is the best fighter out there right now. everyone thinks tarver is going to give roy a good fight, but roy is to experienced for him. roy will either make this a long boring fight making tarver look stupid and win on a decision, or he will go ahead and take care of business like what he did with montell griffin in the rematch and end it early. but back to his size... i have yet to see any fighter, or athlete for that matter gain that much weight with the same figure, and to top it off, i believe roy is all natural, no juice.

he is good just out classes the competition in the lower weight classes. don't know if it is just a mental thing he has over them now or what but no one can even come close to him. most of the time it just looks like he is playing iwth them rather than having a tough fight. at the lower weight i don't remember him even losing many rounds! as far as him stepping up to fight true heavyweight fighters, i don't think he has alot of hope. i agree with you he has done great to gain 50 pounds but he is at the top of what his frame will allow and still be an effective fighter. many other heavywieght fighters are just now at the point that they are gaining their 50 pounds but many are starting at 220-230+. i think if he gets in there with guys that out wieght him by 30-40-50+ pounds he will have a hard time. too bad really but there just isn't a major fight out there for him that pays anything decent without stepping up to that level.

ruiz out weighed him by i believe 30 pounds... there are quite a few heavyweight fighters that would be a good match up for roy. many people say it would be a boring fight, but i think a match between chris byrd and roy would be great. two excellent boxers... if he passes through byrd like i would expect, then he should take a test, and see how he does against a heavy handed fighter such as tua. i think roy would run circles around tua making him look horrible. from what i've heard on espn, and read online, roy is suppose to be taking the winner of tua vs. rahman anyways..... call me insane, but i think roy could knock rahman out, and outbox him in every round. the heavyweights that i believe he should stay away from are lennox lewis, the klitschko brothers, and mike tyson. he can beat mike, but you never know which mike is going to show up... if the out of shape, zoloft popping mike that lennox fought shows up, roy would have an easy night, but if mike shows up in shape, roy is in trouble. i think if he fought lewis or the klitschko brothers, it would be a good fight, but that's to much mass. i think he stands a good chance at beating them because he is just so fast, but they are just so big.

I dont think roy could survive lennox. But I feel lewis, when at the top of his game, is head and shoulders above the rest. If he could outbox the klitschkos, which I think he can, and stay out of danger, he could win those fights. But he wont knock them out. An in shape tyson would beat him also, but I think we have seen the last of that we will ever see.

i don't mean to be an ass, but i disagree..... lennox is a good fighter, but when you look at his fights, what kind of fighter is he? a basic stand up one-two fighter. jab, straight right... i'll give it to him, he's got decent foot movement, but only thing he has going for him is his long jab, and his straight right, which i must add, his straight right is one of the hardest in boxing. roy has knocked out opponents with both hands, and he's more skilled. he has better footwork, and he can outbox you from any angle. also, it's funny that you mentioned roy could outbox the klitschko's and not lewis, when lewis barely got by Vitali. he got lucky, and cut him... he had only won one round against him, and was on the verge of getting knocked out several times in the first few rounds. roy also probably has the fastest hands out there right now. did any of you see his fight against reggie johnson when he knocked him down? to catch the punches, you almost have to watch it in slow motion. i think lewis would give him trouble in the first two rounds, then it would be all roy dancing circles around him... i've got to admit, all the fighters we mentioned above have great records. a lot of people like to say roy hasn't fought anyone, or ask "who has he beaten"? well, here's a few . he has defeated 13 current or former world champions – John Ruiz, Eric Lucas, Reggie Johnson, Otis Grant, Lou Del Valle, Virgil Hill, Montell Griffin, Mike McCallum, Vinny Pazienza, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Jorge Castro, and Jorge Vaca.
