would this be ok for a small meal if i'm eating 6 small meals a day with a balance of protein and complex carbohydrates?

Definately. The only problem with turkey is that it has a chemical in it that enduces a lathargic state for a couple of hours. Try not to eat turkey as a pre-training meal. otherwise, it is good anytime. Tuna also, no mayo!

It's an amino acid, that causes sleepiness. Can't remember the name of it though.
