Every so often, I go through periods where I want eggs (whole), eggs and nothing but eggs.
Weird.
Does anyone know what is in eggs that isn't in other food products?
Or, better said, why one would crave eggs--what nutrient is missing--over any other food?
thanks.

i am not sure i subscribe to the inate carving ability of hte body to deterime exactly what is good for us and what is not. I know that some of my cravings are not in my best interest.

I agree JB, some cravings are tricks.
But eggs must have something in them nutritionally.
After the longest time I went off cycle, the eggs were all I could look at--and tht's not normal for me.
I just thought if I could isolate I nutrient, then I could take that nutrient in vitamin form.
I'll keep researching.
thanks

Nothing you couldnt get from proper vitamin/mineral complex and good EFA's. Except maybe the protein and in that case i have a great idea for you.

I don't have any clue, but when I'm in egg mode I like to make "super eggs." Get the extra large eggs and crack it on the pan. Then add one egg white on top of it (crack the egg, and then flip it back and forth between the shells to separate the yolk from the white). It helps fill me up better while eating less fat at the same time.

At the time I was eating 6 eggs in the a.m. 6 in the mid day and 6-10 in the p.m.
I struck me as absurd.
Now, every so often I crave eggs, but not in the ridiculous amount as then.
I do need to do better with my vits and omegas (just got over them for a week or so).
But the wacky egg moment was when I'd been off cycle for over a year and--related or unrelated to that fact--my body was hurting, I experienced extreme fatigue and my joints were burning.

OK HD, you mentioned a great idea.
Did I miss it?
What is it...

BTW, I use mostly whey now.
Is it a good idea to mix them, or to use one or the other at a specific time, i.e. before bed ?

i defintiely think that micellar casein before bed is a great idea. It is always hard to tell but i believe that i have made great gains ever since i started using a micellar mix around 9pm. I also use it in the morning since i do not eat breakfast. branched chain aminos before working out and bcaas and whey after working out.

Hey thanks HD,
no information is too much information. I'm an information junkie.
I figure the more I understand the better decisions I can make.
I'll begin to rearrange my protein varieties.

And JB I am sure you're right about the pre-bed protein.
I got up 4 times in the middle of the night and had one scoop (23 grams) of whey each time.
I'm certainly loosing the whey quickly!

Costco had the BEST egg-whites...Much better than egg-beaters. After my morning cardio on an empty stomach (except True Protein BCAA Boost) I always eat a full carton of scrambled egg whites. Works out to a little over 50 grams of protein with no fat. I also do 1/4 cup whole oatmeal and 2 tablespoons macadamia nut oil to even the meal out.
