Can someone help me out here?

Due to severe pain in my left knee I haven't really been able to hit legs like I want. Squats and Leg Press kills my knee even if I don't go that heavy. I have a knee scope scheduled this month to see what the problem is. Now my question is how can I still get a decent to good workout for my legs without using squats or leg press. Leg Extensions don't bother by knee at all so I can do those. Help here would be much appreciated just remember I can't put much stress on my knee...

I would use these two exercises with the understanding that something is better than nothing.

ExerciseSetsReps.

Leg Extension5 plus 1 (failure)20-18-15-12-10-Failure
Lying OR seated leg
Curl5 plus 1 (failure)20-18-15-12-10-Failure

I realize this may seem light but if done correctly you will realize it's giving you a decent workout.

you cant even do squats or leg press with lightweight either woody ? if you can i would do that

DO what you can with ext, mix it up, high reps, drop sets, heavy sets, straight sets..justmake sure you hit them hard and intense!
Good luck with the knee get it looked at asap and get it fixed, dont hold off.

In the leg extension (I'd go seated) and the curl machines, the trick will be to have the seat support your leg right to the knee...so fiddle with that seat length

woody,
let me know how your scope goes...my girl is having the same problem...it hurts her to do squats & leg presses...she can do leg extensions with no problem...i would like to know they tell you at the docs...

thats funny if you have something major wrong with your tendons and ligaments ---leg extensions should be the first thing that bothers you the most ---I know poeple who dont have there acl or rcl anymore and the Dr said leg extensions are never to be done again---you might not have a serious issue when you get your scope done everything might be alright---might have calcium deposit on the knee thats hitting some nerves --who know could be alot of things but its odd that leg exstensions dont bother you and squating does

sorry to hear that man. keep us informed on how the scope goes. I am sure you have thought of this but have you tride a very wide stance, cause that takes off a lot of pressure if its your meniscus

i agree with you on this npc, in almost every case its the leg extension that is goin to bother your knee the most

Try some stiff leg deadlifts, and also try some powerlifting style deadlifts. Powerlifting style may hurt pretty bad if you cant do squats! I would atleast give them a try though bro! Good Luck man!
