Hey guys, I just started helping one of my soccer players with weighttraining. He are his stats 6'3" 157 lbs 16 yrs old. As you can tell the kid is a rail. What i want to know is what you guys think would be the best way to go about training him. He can lift 4 days a week when i workout. Obviously the kid will never be real big, but he would like to put on some mass and more strength. Also any ideas for a training program for soccer players. I am starting a new program for the kids i coach. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks AJ

Tons of Calories eat 6 or 7 times a day 50% protien 30% carbs 20 fats. 1 to 1.5 gm of protien to lb of body weight. 3 Day training split, good info on the powerlifting board for training routines. Creatine and a multi vit will help too.

At 16 years old you will have no idea what his potential is, he may be a freak, and may have genetics that keep him small. He was almost EXACTLY where I was at 16. After ten years or so of "training like the champs" I made it to about 185. When I discovered "real world training" I made it to 235 drug free, and eventually 270 with gear use. Put the kid on a SIMPLE three day a week program, have him do squats, deads, bench press, dips, pullups/downs, and a shoulder pressing movement, maybe a few barbell curls. Make him eat like a horse and he will probably grow like a weed. KEEP IT SIMPLE! Iron Addict

And please let me clarify the 3 day a week program: Squats/deads on one day, bench dips, presses another, pullups, curls abs on the third day. He doesn't need anything else at this point. That USUALLY goes for newbies of all ages, but try to convince them of that-lol. Iron Addict
