Where do you guys buy your home gym equip? As I stated before in an older thread I am going to hook up my garage with everything needed. Any good site to look at. The only problem with ordering over the net is shipping...Cost is $$$$$$

Shipping costs suck everywhere over the internet. I checked out a few and the shipping ran anywhere over a bill and a half to around 5- 600, it's not worth it bro. I'm not sure of your area but find a local gym equip company and get your stuff that way, in my area there's Fitness Experience and a bunch of little hardcore places. My experience is many of the local places you can order equipment through and it is cheaper then internet costs. Good luck. Leo17

Darryl actually I've found the internet to be the best place and sometimes much cheaper than retail stores. Megafitness is a good online dealer. Most internet places offer free shipping on a lot of their equipment. The only things that get expensive are weights. However, I found megafitness to be about .05 cheaper per lb than Fitness Systems here in my town. Plus they had free shipping on the 5-75lb set of dumbells I purchased. www.newyorkbarbells is the best place to buy equipment. Most of their nice stuff is free freight. They offer great products at very reasonable prices. As far as your garage gym goes I"d think long and hard about that. I was going to put my gym in my garage instead of the basement however, even this time of year the garage is fucking hot and uncomfortable whereas the basement stays cool year round. Just something to ponder. I would check out a Galyan's if you have one near you. They have the best prices on regular hex dumbells. I think like .33/lb. Later!

being a cheap ass like i am. in philly we have a paper called the tradeing times and if your city has one you can get what you want at half the cost. you can go where the equip is and try it out and pick it up with the help of some of your bros = extra funds to spend on gear.

organ- im in philly too bro. if you ever need any equipment, hit me up. i work in the industry, i'll hook you up with some good pricing. all fitness equipment is negotiable. buying through the internet takes away your ability to negotiate your pricing. go to a store, talk the saleperson down until you are comfortable. unless you are spending under 500 bucks. anything under that and we dont make enough money to care about your deal. also, mega has alot of remanufactured or private label stuff. they have yukon make their strength line. and it is cheaper to buy in a store if you can find a dealer. then again, the saying in the industry goes like this "if you buy yukon, your ass got conned". the quality level is shit. look at the product codes for their stuf and you can figure out who makes it. then buy it in a store cheaper. the product code for most strength stuff starts with "YUK", meaning yukon. their treadmills and other equipment are cheaper in the stores. i know that for a fact.

all my equipment is from new york barbell... rockice is right most items are free shipping. I have a power rack, bench, vert leg press, lat row machine, adjustable oly dumbbells, dipping station, and tricep bar from them. all of the equipment is good quality especially for the price.

I made most of my stuff myself, try to find a really good picture of what you want and find a local machine shop to give you a price to make it for you. I saved hundreds, possibly thousands by doing it myself.

alphafitness is a personal training site, not equipment related.
