when i get home from school in between classes i usually fix me a tuna sandwhich and some fruit.. the other day there was a killer deal for salmon so i stocked up on that. then when i would come home for dinner after the late classes, i would fix some salmon and rice... of my question now is.. would eating an abundance of fish products make me stink or give me an unusual body odor???

Trimethylaminuria or fish odor syndrome (which is rare) is caused by abnormal excretion of trimethylamine in the breath, urine, sweat, saliva and vaginal secretions. The trimethylamine is produced by bowel bacteria that break down certain amino acids, carnitine/lysine and choline/lecithin that occur in high concentrations in marine fish, egg yolks, soy beans and liver. Trimethylaminuria is worsened by choline, which is found in eggs, liver and other organ meats, legumes, and some grains. It can also be caused bu carnitine/lysine which is found in chocolate, peanuts, nuts, raisins and cereals. It is also worsened by eating foods such as salt water fish, which contain trimethylamine-oxide. Foods rich in the amino acid carnitine are known to leave residues in the intestines which have to be worked on by the natural flora (friendly bacteria). If very specific enzymes (known as flavin monooxygenases) which break the residues down to an odourless state ready for excretion are in poor supply or are missing (or if the bowel flora are disturbed) the characteristic fish-like odour appears. The good news/bad news is that symptoms can often be reduced by following a low-protein diet which restricts foods containing choline or trimethylamine-oxide and/or by consuming sufficient amounts of vegetables, rice and fruit with your protein source such as fish. This condition can also be caused by liver dysfunction and steroids.

Maybe you should go to Evil Dave's "17 to 20 yr. old" post...I think it was in the off-topic forum or relationships and talk to the new girlfriend I introduced him to.....she might have some suggestions.......then again.....she might not mind it at all.....
