i see personal trainers at my gym (world gym) and they suck. they dont even pay attention and they wonder around the gym like they have no program. im interested in getting into it but i see that there are many different associations. i dont want to study and spend my money on something that isnt recognized. i looking for some extra weekend or evening work to make some extra money or just another hobby. i would probably want to do my work in ballys or world gym. anyone have any knowledge of this?

Hey bros.... next time you see those crappy personal trainers walking around ask them where they got certified and how... as for me, i just got my home certification course from NESTA... they seem reputable and many people i have talked to have heard of them.. go to www.nestacertified.com and take a look... -jakked

I am no authority, but I believe that it is much easier to get the initial certification than it is to keep it. Are you not required to continually increase your education each year to keep you certification, which ultimately ends in your getting a BS in kenisiology? Might be wront, but I though that CE was vital to keeping your certification over the course of many years. Keepin the Peace, Cajun_Satan

Ahhh ... just make up a 'lean' sounding name ... pick up a biz license ... print off a certificate ... some biz cards ... pay a skinny milf for some photo/ads ... network with others ... and you got yourself a biz.

I was a trainer at Bally's....i am affa and nsca certified.......if you want to be a trainer....first you have to throw away any aspirations of ever making any real money. realize that being a trainer involves more "selling yourself" than actually helping people. and be prepared to repeat yourself about a thousand times. be prepared to become so sick of spending time in the gym that your own workouts start to slack..........and then after all that, call up AFFA or NSCA or ACE and order the books and schedule yourself for an exam....its easy to do.
