What's up everyone. Got a quick question for all you A.M. workout fanatics. My evening school schedule is getting crazy and I am going to have to switch to a morning workout routine as opposed to my ussual evening routine. I have to be at work for 7 and I have a 30 minute commute, which all means I will be up at about 5:30 to start a morning routine. I never had a problem getting up. Hell, I am up at 6:30am on Saturday's. BUT, what do yall do for energy first thing in the morning. Do yall eat 1/2 a bannana, or a granola bar or something? I was thinking about a granola bar with 1/2 glass of OJ or something. I don't really like taking in carbs in the morning, but I am thinking there is no way around it. And I workout at home, so I don't have a trip to the gym to get my blood pumping. I need a quick pick me up so I can hit the weights about 15 minutes after I roll my ass out of bed. Thanks to all. Keepin the Peace, Cajun Satan

yeh coffee and ephedrine, warm up with some bike work or rope skipping and stretch well as it is first thing. I would also drink whey with glucose as soon as you get up and throughout your workout - you need some fuel in you

Oatmeal, egg whites, and coffee get me rolling for my lifting in the morning. The oatmeal helps ALOT.

Have a protein drink in water .Don`t forget you have stored glycogen in the liver, from the previous day`s eating. This way, after depleting glucose and glycogen, you will idealy burn fat as fuel.Take a post-workout drink containing whey and dextrose, immediately after training.Good luck doing squats early in the AM, it takes a bit of time to get used to.

I train at 4AM and usually make a pre workout drink with hydrolyzed whey and powdered honey and I also add some instant coffee crystals.

Man I thought waking up at 530am for work at 6am was building character ... do you work a night shift or something? Why so early? If you wake early ... how long did it take for you to get use to that time?

LOL...I put myself through college working full time...and the only time i had to study was early morning. It stuck. I have been getting up early ever since. Comes in handy during fishing and hunting season to.
