I've been doing the Bodyopus diet since last sunday. Friday morning I weighed 164lbs. I went to the gyn and did a full body workout like the directions say and finished with 40 minutes of cardio. I then went about my carb up fase on sat and sun. Well this morning I weighed in at 175 ? WTF 11 pounds in 2 days. Since this is my first time doing the bodyopus diet I'm not sure if this is what's supposed to happen. But I feel a hell of a lot stronger than I did at the end of last week. I was just wondering if those 11 lbs are water, fat, or god knows what. Any and all resposed are greatly appreciated...thanx

Every person is different,so no two people will respond to the recomp phase the same way.During my load 8-10 pounds are normal for a 36 hour load.Keep a close eye on how your body looks after the load(the following day)are you still full and tight or did you spill over? The goal of the recomp is to drive as much glucose into the muscles without spilling any over into the fat cells.
I'm sure you already know that the load is the most important part of the diet and you can't be sloppy during the recomp. otherwise you will redeposit triglycerides and glycerol into the fat cells.

You should look considerabily bigger due to the fact that you replaced your glycogen and other fluids that you have been void of all week long, and yes you should be stronger following recomp.

What kinds of food are you eating during the recomp. phase are you avoiding fructrose and eating all high glycemic's or are you switching it up.And how long are you loading for 24,36 or 48 hrs.As long as you are leaning out don't be to concerned about how much weight you gain on the load, the longer you diet the less it will be.

First off, my current bf% is 14. I started a cycle the first week of feb. 400 deca, 400 t200 , Oeffler sus 1 cc and just added IP's winstrol for the remaining 4 weeks. I started out at 18.5% bf @ 174 lbs. During my carb-up phase I ate, pineapples, waffles with syrup , yams, bananas, oatmeal cookies, Honey comb cereal. Also , despite the added weight, I did not look any fatter, just bigger. Thanx for all the replies, I just wasn't sure if the weight gain was normal. I'm going to add more MCT and flax seed oil this week to see if I can get into ketosis faster...Peace

Everyone responds differently (big revelation) to the carb-up phase, but, personally, I gain about 10 lbs from Friday morning to Monday morning. And, yes, the weight is almost all water due to the overabundance of carbs during the weekend and their commensurate ability to hold water. I just question that if your bodyweight is only 160 why you would be dieting in the first place???

Well...I'm currently doing Bodyopus as well. To answer your question, you should feel stronger after the carb up. A little weight gain I can see, but I can't understand why you would gain 11lbs. Jeez...how much are you eating? Are you taking any anabolics? Have you checked your bf%?

Hey bro it's just a suggestion, but i would drop the pineapple, honey comb cereal and cookies from your load.Try staying with the high's ie dextrose and rice cakes(that's all i load on)i guarntee you will fill out better and you won't have to worry about spilling over. How much of your diet is protein and how much is fat?A simple trick to establish ketosis faster(with out slin)is to have an all oil day, which means your first day after your load all six meals that day would be all oil.It works out for me with my lbm at 2 tablespoons flax and 2 tablespoons olive,it will get ya in about 10-12 hrs faster. And don't worry about the lack of protein for the day the diet isn't based about how much protein you take in 25% in ideal.

Thanks deadlift! I might try that myself. I haven't been hitting ketosis until like Wednesday morning.

Can anyone tell me how your daily energy levels fluctuate? I want to try it, but I work full time and go to school full time. It seems likely that there would be some real highs and real lows. Thanks

Hey Deadlift, thanx for da tip. I'll try that on my next carbup. What else would you suggest besides rice cakes? I was unable to find the Bodyopus book so what little I know is from what I've put together from articles on fitness boards. thanx

Well as far as other carbs go during your load,we (frique and myself) the we experienced the best load with dextrose and rice cakes and that's it.But when we first started trying new ideas on opus we use to load on pancake's and light syrup, oatmeal, gatorade(pure dextrose is far superior thou) and even peanut butter cups in lew of natural pb which we use now.I know that it sounds weird but pb cups have sucrose not fructose.Plus they taste so f'in good on a diet :)We also had 1 scoop of whey with each meal along with 5 grams of glutamine,V2G and lipolic acid to raise slin levels even more.Keep in mind on this load you will be extremely tired after 36 hours, but it's worth it. As far as energy levels go the are for shit(at least for me)during the first 2 weeks until your body adjusts to the diet. Then they stablize a bit,but you won't have the endurence that you did before.Your max may not go down but about 30 minutes into the workout you kinda start to drag a little. Da gimp just thought i'd let ya know that for someone who doesn't have the book you seem to have a pretty good grasp on the opus layout..good job on the reasearch bro.If i can assist ya any more please feel free to ask.

Daily energy levels do fluctuate, but not real extreme. Well, at least not after the 1st week. I feel pretty good on Monday & Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, I kinda feel lethargic, but its not too bad until I start doing my cardio. That is pretty rough.

That all oil thing makes sense, if you have the stomach for it. I think that vanadyl sulfate, as recommended by Duchaine himself, works pretty good at getting you into ketosis faster. You could always just workout for longer to deplete more glycogen.
