How many of you guys have a shake before your workout?

I workout at 5:00am every morning, and have been taking a MuscleMilk shake about 30 minutes before my workout starts. I then have a whey shake directly after my workout with some carbs. I then get about 5 whole meals throughout the day with another MuscleMilk shake before bed.

Just wondering what some of you guys did. I know it will probably change between cutting or bulking.

I was using a MAXS nitro c3 pre workout shake, its more carbs than protien. Also has some creatine, ala, and some akg. It works pretty well for me. I just started dieting so i have dropped it out, it has 66gm of carbs per serve.

Yea, carbs is what you want, not protein... and dont wait an hour after you work out to take in food...

I normally have a small snack before...Oatmeal and some chicken. Occasionally the shake. A cup of yogurt, banana, and peanut butter... Now I am on the oatmeal and chick kick...seems to be working well.

Whole foods for me bro. My pre workout meal is a half dozen eggs, slice of toast, and a bowl of oatmeal. Post workout meal is a steak and baked potato.

If I have a supplement ... its a supplement and never a meal itself. If I have a shake its my "drink" with a steak and salad. Its mixed in with my oatmeal. Etc.

15 g of carbs, hi GI.
20-30g of ISO Whey (not hydro)
0 g of fat.

Was reading some studies that any fat consumed prior to 2hrs any intense exercise, will be stored.

Post workout shake, the faster you can consume it the better... So 5-10mins after workout it's 15g of carbs glucose and 30-40g of Hydro or ISO whey, 0g of fat.

I've been doing things more like this recently too. Used to just have whey and water before training and after then wait 1 hour and have a whole meal.

But last few months been going more old school and having half gallon of milk post workout with some steak or chicken.

Pre workout is usually a protein shake still though, as I leave right from work to the gym and its easy. 9 times out of ten its cookies n cream muscle milk mixed with milk.

The extra fats idea came from Tom Platz. I might not stick withit forever but for a change I am liking it.

I actually take a shake and drink half before half during the first couple minutes of my workout......its always whey Isolate(40-50g)...with some carbs..(30-40g)

some times when bulking I will mix a full bottle of isopure with a full bottle of gatorade...pound hald before then sip the rest through out......

my PWO shake is high GI carbs with a whey isolate( with digestive enzymes) mixed in with 3-5 raw eggs..then eat a full meal an hour to an hour and a half later.......

I don't know how you guys do it. Maybe it's because I work out in the morning (I don't know) but if I eat anything more than a piece of peanut butter toast before I go to the gym I'll hurl for sure. I cant imagine working out with a belly full of that syrupy sugary muscle milk. Making me nauseous just thinking about it.
